Review: Rimmel Apocalips|Big Bang

These lip lacquers have been out for a while now and I love how many mixed reviews there have been. Personally, I think Rimmel are onto a winner and my favourite shade is Big Bang which is a beautiful bright red.
I also have Celestial, a really pretty natural pink shade and Luna, a pale peachy pink. Celestial is the perfect every day lip colour but I'm not a big fan of Luna as I find it an odd shade which doesn't suit me at all.
It's the actual consistency of these lip products that's really amazing. They are very thick and pigmented so you only need to apply the tiniest amount. I wore Big Bang to my friend's Birthday drinks the other night and what impressed me was the fact that it lasted all evening after just one application. It stayed on for hours, even after I had been drinking throughout the evening and then had something to eat. This is why I think this shade is great to use when going out for an event like that. I'm not sure if the other shades would have lasted as long.
One thing that does let this product down is the fact that it isn't scented and actually smells quite horrible. However, for me their staying power and price tag of only £5.99 make up for it.

What do you think? Do you agree with me or have you tried them and been disappointed?

  1. This colour really suits you! I have Celestial but although I like the colour, it came out darker on me than I was expecting so I've not worn it all that much! xx

  2. I have Apocoliptic, it's super bright and I love it! The main things that impresses me with these is how pigmented they are, I was actually speechless when I swatched them in Boots! The big down side for me is how much they bleed out from the lips which can be combated with something like the DuWop reverse lip liner but it's a bit of a hassle. I also found that it can transfer onto the teeth which is not a good look!

I do love this range but they can sometimes be a bit impracticable!

    1. I haven't found them to bleed out from my lips at all, although they would seem like the kind of product that would do that. Haha yes that's such a good point about it transferring onto the teeth!! Big Bang did that when I applied it but didn't transfer again throughout the evening which was a relief. They have a lot of pros and cons! xx

  4. Do they have a bit more slip than the YSL Glossy Stains? I think I was the only person in the world that didn't like them, the texture was not my friend. Heartbroken. Maybe it's a sign to buy these instead :) Sarah x

    1. I've never tried to the YSL Glossy Stains :( I've only tried the L'Oreal ones which are way less heavy than these. The Rimmel ones are really thick and kind of like paint haha but dry quite matte. You should definitely give them a try! And thanks :) x

  7. This looks gorgeous on you! I bought nude eclipse and I really didn't like it, the colour is far too pale, so it looks a bit silly but I think I will try one of the brighter shades, I'm not writing them off just yet as I did like the formula :) xx

    1. Thanks! Yeah I found that with Luna and that's more peachy but it just seemed way too pale. Definitely try the brighter shades! The bright pink ones look amazing, might try one of those next xx

  9. that looks so lovely on you! Do you find it drying on your lips at all, i have to be careful of lip stuff I use because they all tend to not be very moisturising! xx

    1. Thanks! Well that's the weird thing about them...people say that they are quite drying but I haven't found that. Which is strange because a lot of lip products dry out my lips too! xx
