Getting Organised | Part 1: The Wardrobe

I've always been a very tidy person. Believe it or not, I don't see cleaning as a chore and actually enjoy tidying up and making sure that things are clean. Is that strange that I think it's fun? I find that if the space around me is tidy then I can concentrate a lot better and I feel less stressed. I definitely find it helps when I sit down to do some work because I'm not distracted by all of the things around me. Does anyone else find this?
I really enjoy looking for new ways to store things so that they are tidied away but also accessible. So here's the first part in a series of posts about 'organising'. I hope that it gives you some useful ideas and perhaps puts you in the mood to do some spring cleaning!

Every couple of months I will dedicate a rainy afternoon to clearing out my wardrobe. This includes, throwing away old things, making a pile of clothes I want to take to the charity shop or sell on eBay (the eBay pile is still sat there waiting) and throwing away old broken hangers that I find lurking at the back of the wardrobe. Every time I do this, I realise that I have so many items of clothing that I never wear and this is when I convince myself not to by any more clothes. This only lasts for a few days, but rearranging my clothes in different ways does make me wear the ones that have been forgotten again. It must be psychological!

I also find that if my shoes and handbags are all put together in a big bag or box then they never get used because I can't see them and often forget that they are there. So when I went to Ikea at the weekend I picked up a hanging shoe organiser as a way of storing shoes  and smaller bags and also displaying them. This seems to work well as I find that I am more likely to wear them because they are accessible. The handbags that I never use but just can't bare to part with for some strange reason are kept in a big floral storage bag for now. If anyone knows of any ways to store or display bags then please let me know!

The things that I use or wear all the time are stored away in these little boxes, which are also from Ikea. I love the fact that they don't have lids so that I can grab things when I need them but still keep them all pretty organised. They are different sizes but all squares and rectangles so sit nicely together on the shelves in my wardrobe. Each item has it's own box which means that it is a lot easier and quicker to find something, especially if i'm in a hurry.

There are so many different ways that you can organise your wardrobe, I find that boxes seem to be the best way for me to store everything. How do you store things in your wardrobe? I'd love to hear of any other ways to keep everything tidy.

Spring & Summer: Style Picks

When it comes to fashion I don't really know what i'm talking about. I guess I do follow trends but I also tend to just wear things that I like. Anyway, i've bought a few new pieces to add to my wardrobe for spring and summer so thought I would share them with you!

The Ray Ban Wayfarers
I can't recommend these sunglasses enough! I got them for my eighteenth birthday and I know that they will last for years to come. They also go with everything.

The Topshop Flatforms
I posted about these recently so won't talk about them too much. They are great because they make any casual outfit look a bit more dressed up.

The H&M Blouse from their Conscious Collection
I really like this collection but this is the only piece I own from it. This one in particular is perfect for this time of year. The price was also amazing at £9.99 which is great because it looks a lot more expensive than it was. It buttons right up to the top but can just about be worn with the top button undone.

The H&M Trousers
I picked these up in the sale a couple of weeks ago. They were half price so ended being about £8 which is amazing for trousers. So amazing in fact that I also got a printed pair too. I usually only wear jeans or jeggings but like the smarter look of these trousers.

Have you bought any new pieces for spring and summer?

Recent Buys: April 2013

Left to right: Primark PJ bottoms £6.00, Topshop necklace £5.00, No7 Lip Crayon £9.00, Topshop shoes £18.00

I bought these pyjama bottoms in Primark the other day after instantly falling in love with them. They are just really pretty and lightweight making them perfect for summer nights...and lazy days.

It's usually worth having a look at the sale jewellery in Topshop and I'm glad I did. I love the bright colours and will probably wear this with a plain grey or white T-shirt. However, I don't think I would have paid the full price for it which was £10 but that's because I have enough necklaces that I hardly wear!

I picked up a No7 High Shine Lip Crayon in the shade Delicate Pink because I was expecting it to be like a Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain which I love! (Or a Clinique Chubby Stick, which I haven't tried...yet).
I've used it a couple of times and have found that it is much more moisturising than the balm stains. It doesn't have the same staying power and is more of a cross between the balm stains and lip butters but overall I think it's a lovely product and I know I will get a lot of use out of it.

I have wanted to buy a pair of flatforms for a while and found these Marley pumps on the Topshop website. As soon as I saw that they had been reduced to £18 from £30 in the sale I quickly snapped them up. I originally ordered them in Yellow but they ended up not having them in stock and I decided to get the coral pair to give them a try. I'm so glad I did because they are such a lovely colour and are actually really comfortable shoes. I'm pretty average height but it's nice to get some height without having to wear heels (which I don't get on with).

There are some pretty good bargains out there in the mid season sales. Have you found any?
